How to Become a Firefighter

Albany Technical College has a 2 quarter program that offers a State of Georgia Firefighter certification. It is a certification program which makes it HOPE Grant eligible if the student meets HOPE eligibility. The Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, GA has a 21 day certification course. The applicant must be sponsored by Georgia Fire Department. If hired by the Albany Fire Department, training is completed locally and all applicants are tested by Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council.
