To file a garnishment you must have a money judgment signed by a judge. If your judgment was not obtained from the Dougherty County Magistrate Court, you will need to get a FiFa (Fieri Facias) from the court where your judgment was obtained. Also, the garnishee (employer) must be in Dougherty County.  Magistrate Court, 225 Pine Avenue, Albany, Ga. 31701. Telephone 229-431-3216.

When filing a garnishment, you must file:

•     One Affidavit garnishment form (maybe handwritten but must be legible) - the form must be notarized if you are mailing the form into our office
•   One stamped envelope addressed to the Defendant at their last known address. (No return address)
•   One self addressed stamped envelope (this is for the service date to be returned to you)
•    Copy of signed judgment or copy of FiFa. Copy of FiFa is required on ALL judgments from another court. 
•   $98.00 filing fee. May be paid with check, money order or cash (If paying in cash you will need the exact amount. We do not have a cash drawer and cannot make change).
