Extermination Violation

The owner of any structure is responsible to maintain property rodent and pest free, however if a structure is rented or leased, the tenant of a one family dwelling or single tenant nonresidential structure is responsible for extermination.  In multi-family or multi-tenant nonresidential buildings, the owner is reponsible for the common areas and tenant is responsible for their used areas, however the tenant is reponsible for extermination if the tenant is responsible for the infestation.  (Note: The building owner is always solely responsible for wood destroying pests such as termites).

Any detailed questions regarding extermination should be directed to the Albany Code Enforcement Department at 229-438-3913.
