Absentee and Early Voting

    

Citizens may cast an absentee ballot by mail or in-person.

 

Absentee Voting by Mail:

A voter who requests an absentee ballot by mail is not required to provide a reason why he or she is voting absentee. Voters may submit a request for an absentee ballot by mail as early as 180 days before an election. Military/Physical Disabled/65 Years or Older Voters:

Voters under this category may choose to submit one application and receive a ballot for all elections to be held during the year. Voters are reminded to make sure to check the box for all ballots on the application.

 

Special Note:  A separate application must be made for the Presidential Preference Primary. Voters may request an absentee ballot in person, by fax, or by mail. Absentee ballots are available 45 days prior to the election.

Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA):

Georgia Residents serving in the Uniformed Services or residing overseas may register to vote and cast their ballot in Georgia.

 

Who is a Uniformed Services Voter?

A Uniformed Services voter is a U.S. citizen who is a member of (or the spouse or dependent of a member of) the:

  • Uniformed Services(Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard);
  • Merchant marine;
  • Commissioned corps of the Public Health Service; and
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

How to Return an Absentee Ballot:

Absentee Ballots may be returned through the U.S. Mail, by the voter in person, or by a relative of a disabled voter, in order to be counted. Ballots should be mailed/hand delivered to the address listed above.
