Motor vehicle owners and lessees in Georgia are required to maintain continuous mandatory liability insurance coverage on their vehicle(s) to: Legally drive the vehicle(s); Register and obtain Ga. license plates (tags); and, Renew, replace, or transfer their existing Ga. license plates (tags).

Non-motorized vehicles do not require insurance coverage.

Lapse and restoration fees are charged in noncompliance.
