Interior Furniture Outside
The use of inside furniture outside the home is illegal in Albany. Couches, lounge chairs, etc., that are on porches or other outside areas must be removed. The two exceptions to the rule are: 1) wood furniture completely coated with paint or another weatherproof coating provided that it is not visible from the public right of ways, and 2) furniture used in a porch fully enclosed by glass or screens. People with this furniture can place it in the right of way in front of their homes (or alley if you have an alley) to be picked up by the Department of Public Works. You can also call 311 (or 229-878-3111) or submit a service request via our website. Go to the main page of the City of Albany website and click the 311 picture.
